A protected link opens only after the right password. The password is stored as a hash, and until it is entered neither visitors, link previews nor search engines see the destination.
Country allowlist
Pick the countries that may open a link. Everyone else gets a 404 or is sent to google.com, and a visitor whose country cannot be determined is turned away as well.
Bot blocking
Recognized crawlers and bots are redirected to google.com instead of your destination. Bot blocking is part of the advanced link settings on the Scale plan.

No. As long as the password has not been entered, the short link only shows the password prompt. Link previews and search engines therefore never see the destination.
You decide per link: they either get a 404 page or are redirected to google.com. Visitors whose country cannot be determined are treated as not allowed.
